Ranchi: Rural Development Minister Jairam Ramesh announced here Saturday that Jharkhand would have an effective Lokayukta law by Feb 15.
"Jharkhand will have its Lokayukta law by Feb 15. This will be according to the law passed by parliament," said Ramesh after holding a coordination committee meeting of the Jharkhand government.
The Lokpal and Lokayukta Bill, 2011, was passed Dec 18, 2013 in the Lok Sabha after amendments to the legislation were adopted by the Rajya Sabha a day earlier.
Ramesh is the chairperson of the coordination committee of the ruling alliance. The Hemant Soren government of Jharkhand Mukti Morcha is supported by the Congress, the Rashtriya Janata Dal and smaller parties.
Soren, Congress in-charge of Jharkhand B.K. Hariprasad and partners of the state government attended.
It was also decided in the meeting to constitute the Tribal Advisory Council by Jan 15.
