New Delhi: Indian weddings are the most colorful and celebrated events of the world. They are a perfect amalgamation of pomp and show and rich grandeur. Wedding of Srishti Mittal Niece of steel tycoon, Laxmi Mittal had a lavish wedding in Barcelona last year in December. Srishti tied the nuptial knot with Gulraj Behl—an investment banker by profession.The three day wedding costed approximately 500 crore.The main wedding ceremony was held at the National Museum of Catalan Art atop a hill.It was a grand affair with innumerable culinary indulgences, over 200 chefs, butlers and assistants were flown into Spain from India and Thailand. The wedding cake was a breathtaking six-tier construction weighing 60 kilos.Then there was the spectacular light, water and musical display to enthrall the guests.This is believed to be the second most expensive wedding in the history of big-fat weddings. 2. Twin Sahara wedding The weddings of Sahara chief Subrata Roy's sons, Sushanto with Richa and Seemanto with Chandni took place in Lucknow in 2004. The venue was Sahara auditorium. Subrata had planned to make it low profile, with no dearth of glamour, glitz and style in the weddings.It was more than Rs 552 crore affair. 3. Tanwar wedding The power wedding of political scions, Kanwar Singh Tanwar's 26-year-old son Lalit was a Rs. 250 crore affair. A chopper as a gift for the groom, tilak-shagun for the groom's family worth Rs. 21 crore, and film stars set to be in attendance at functions, the wedding took place on the outskirts of the capital in 2011.Lalit had married 26-year-old daughter Yogita, daughter of independent MLA Sukhbir Singh Jaunapuria.The politicos gifted silver biscuits weighing 30gms, a safari suit each and Rs. 2100 in cash to the 2000 guests at the Lagan ceremony alone.4. Vanisha Mittal wedding At Rs. 240 crore, Lakshmi Mittal's daughter's wedding was a statement of wealth. The six day extravaganza in Paris was the most expensive wedding ever in 2004. Rich and powerful people across the globe attended the big affair.The wedding comprise of several dance performances of big artists.Choreographer Farah Khan had choreographed the performances while pop diva Kylie Minogue's numbers earned her 200,000 pound for her half an hour act.Bollywood actors Juhi Chawla, Rani Mukherjee, Saif Ali Khan,Shah Rukh Khan-who was paid 300,000 pound-performed a spoof on the Mittals that earned applause. 5. Reddy wedding The next in the line of the big fat corporate Indian wedding is GVK Group's GV Krishna Reddy's granddaughter Mallika, married to Siddharth, son of Indu Group's Indukuri Syam Prasad Reddy.The wedding was worth Rs 1000 crore.The outfits were designed by Abu Jani- Sandeep Khosla. 500 invitation cards were sent each card costing 5000. Among those who attended the function was Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in Hyderabad. 6. Chatwal wedding The scion of Hampshire Hotels Vikram Chatwal got married to model Priya Sachdev. The grand wedding costing 100 crore was a lavish 10 day affair. The celebrations took place in Delhi, Mumbai and Udaipur.
