Amritsar: Radical Sikh outfit Dal Khalsa has written a letter to British Prime Minister David Cameron, expressing its pain, concern and anguish over the “revelations” that Margaret Thatcher's government might have helped Indira Gandhi plan Operation Bluestar in 1984.
The letter written by party's spokesperson Kanwar Pal Singh has been sent through the High Commissioner of British Embassy in New Delhi, outfit leaders said today.
“The news report about the secret document from the British National Archives revealing that the UK government had collaborated with India in planning the attack has shattered the Sikhs from within. The Sikh Diaspora is deeply hurt and the news has left them numbed,” the letter reads.
The letter has sought details of the secret deal, urged the British PM to give a “clear statement” on the issue.
Recently declassified documents have indicated that Britain's Special Air Service (SAS) officials had been dispatched to help India on the planning on the raid of the Golden Temple to flush out militants from the shrine, an operation left more than 1,000 people dead.
