Court notice to Delhi CEO on plea over issuance of voter IDs

New Delhi: A court here today issued a notice to Delhi's Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) on a plea against issuance of voter identity cards to Bangladeshi immigrants and people from other states allegedly to satisfy



He alleged that the entire “manipulation was done in collusion with the administrative machinery”.  

It is mandatory for Election Commission to carry out verification before entering the name of voters on electoral lists, he stated, adding that no such vetting was carried out ahead of last year's Assembly elections in Delhi.  

“No verification was done and the (Assembly) election has been declared as held,” he alleged.

Arguing in person, Singh requested for the order of the trial court to be set aside and his appeal “kindly” allowed ordering action to be take as per the law.
