New Delhi: After examining senior PMO official T K A Nair, CBI is likely to quiz industrialist Kumar Mangalam Birla and former Coal Secretary P C Parakh soon in the coal blocks allocation scam.
CBI had registered a case naming 46-year-old Birla, Parakh and unknown officials of Hindalco and coal ministry last year under various sections pertaining to criminal conspiracy and corruption for alleged irregularities in the allocation of two coal blocks nine years back.
Immediately after filing an FIR with the court, the CBI had conducted searches at various places in the country.
The CBI move was criticized by India Inc and former bureaucrats.
CBI sources said here today that the two would be examined soon before deciding whether the agency should file a charge sheet or move a closure report.
The agency had last month sent a questionnaire to Nair, Advisor to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, who in return sent replies to the CBI.
