Big guns who got embroiled in sex scandals

New Delhi: Newspaper owners or infotech big guns, politicians or top cops, fashion desginers or judges, somebody or the other has been found embroiled in sex scandals in India and had to face the brunt of law. Tarun Tejpal, owner of Tehelka, has been charged with sexual assault of a junior woman colleague and Phaneesh Murthy had to leave Infosys after his secretary accused him of sexual assault. There are many big guns who have been involved in sex controversies due to which they had to court infamy. Here are some of the big guns embroiled in Indian sex scandals: 1. Tarun Tejpal Former editor in chief of Tehelka magazine has been charged with sexual assault e of a junior woman colleague by the Goa Police. A 2,900 page charge sheet has been filed against the investigative journalist who had allegedly raped the woman colleague inside the elevator of a five star hotel in Goa not once, but twice. The prime evidences of the case include statements of Shoma Chaudhary, one of the founding members of Tehelka and Tejpal's daughter.Tejpal now alleges that he is being framed due to 'political vendetta' and is seeking bail. 2. Phaneesh Murthy Appointed director of Infosys in 2000, Phaneesh Murthy had to resign shortly after he was accused of sexual harassment by his secretary Reka Maximovitch. He then joined iGate as CEO and was again sacked in 2013 for sexually harassing head of investor relations Araceli Roiz. 3. N.D. Tiwari The entire country was shocked when N D Tiwari, the then governor of Andhra Pradesh was shown in bed with three women inside the Raj Bhawan. It was a sting operation carried out by a leading Telugu channel.Tiwari resigned and apologized publicly although he claimed that he was framed by his political opponents.N D Tiwari's character came under the scanner a long time ago when a lady Ujjwala Sharma accused him of fathering his son Rohit Shekhar and the son demanded a DNA test.Tiwari tried his best to avoid the DNA test but was forced to undergo the test by the judiciary. The DNA test proved that Tiwari indeed was the father of Rohit Shekhar.4. KPS Gill Former Director General of Police, Punjab, was accused of sexual harassment by a woman IAS officer Rupan Deol Bajaj at a party in 1988. She had accused him of molesting her by patting' her 'posterior'. Gill, however did not do jail time as his sentence was reduced to probation. 5. Anand Jon A celebrity designer was accused of sexual harassment by several models who said he lured them on the pretext of giving them modelling assignments. In Npvember 2008, he was convicted in Los Angeles of multiple charges including sexual assault. In August 2009, he was sentenced to 59 years to life. He was born in Kerala and moved to New York for making a career in fashion. He had designed clothes for Janet Jackson and Paris Hilton. 6. Justice A.K. Ganguly Former chairman of West Bengal Human Rights Commission and former judge of Supreme Court Retd Justice A K ganguly was accused by a female law intern of sexual harassment inside a hotel room. He was indicted on 6 December 2013 by a Supreme Court appointed committee, which agreed with the intern's allegation that he had subjected her to ‘unwelcome sexual behaviour' in December 2012. Ganguly resigned from the chairmanship of West Bengal Human Rights Commission on 6 January 2014 after the Union Cabinet decided to make a Presidential Reference on 2 January 2014 to the Supreme Court for his removal.
