Thane, Apr 11: A land surveyor on official duty was attacked by a mob at Arnala in Thane district, police said today.
Suhas Sawant had gone to Arnala near Vasai for conducting the survey of land on Tuesday, when the villagers, mostly fishermen, prevented him from doing his official duty, said assistant police inspector Anand Bhoir of Arnala police station.
The villagers attacked Sawant and his staff after he continued with his work and also damaged some vehicles parked nearby, he said.
Police said nine persons were arrested on the complaint of Sawant and booked them under various sections of IPC, including the one for deterring a public servant from discharging his duty.
