New Delhi: Arvind Kejriwal yesterday criticised Shiela Dikshit government for being lax in drafting a policy for battery-operated rickshaws in Delhi and said lack of policy is causing to unnecessary harassment of the operators.

The Aam Aadmi Party, addressing a rally of battery-operated rickshaw operators here, said that due to lack of a clear policy they were often fined heavily,
affecting the livelihood of the operators, mostly from economically weaker background.

The rickshaw operators today held a rally at Jantar Mantar against their alleged exploitation due to lack of policy.

"We fully support the demands of these operators and would stand by them till the issue is sorted out," Kejriwal said.

In the rally, the operators alleged that black marketing of e-rickshaws are going on.

They alleged though e-rickshaws costs around Rs 40,000, dealers charge them around Rs one lakh per rickshaw and even don't give proper receipts.

Addressing the gathering, Kejriwal said that those manual rickshaws operators who want to purchase e-rickshaws should be given subsidy by the government.
