New Delhi: One minute, i.e., 60 seconds. What could be done in a span of 60 seconds? Well, a wave of shock and surprise went across the railway authorities, when around 800 tickets of Konkan Kanya Express, for the date 28th August, 2014, was sold within 60 seconds.

The mad rush for Mumbai- Madgaon Konkan Kanya Express is because of Ganeshotsav which is apparently on 28th August.

Recoding an incredible sale of 13 tickets per second, all berths on the August 28 train were booked within a minute.

According to the Central Railway officials, the reservations of Konkan Kanya Express opened at 8am on Saturday. And almost 800  seats were booked of this 18- coach train got booked by 8:01am from various booking counters and the online portal.

There are around 3,200 passenger reservation centres across India with each of them having at least two or more windows and passengers also avail the IRCTC website.

Although the officials claim it is quite possible that with so many windows — where the system works faster — and with multiple online portal centres, seats can be exhausted within a minute.

But they are not ruling out the possibility of a foul play in this matter and claimed that there could be mass booking made by illegal agents.

Although according to the sources the Railway Board Board is likely to appoint a committee to investigate the matter. But this incident has also created a furor in the political circles.

Leader of Opposition in the Maharashtra Legislative Council, Vinod Tawade, claims people have complained to him about unauthorised bookings.

“There are bookings done at 7.54 am and 7.56 am with confirmed tickets, which is well before 8 am, when reservations open. I will meet Railway Minister Sadanand Gowda and ask for an inquiry,” he said.
