"Many delegations of Doctors' Association have met us in the last 2 days, I have assured everyone that the Central Government will take action against anyone connected with this incident. I will definitely find a remedy for this and I am sure that whatever steps are necessary for this, the Government and the Ministry will take them," Nadda said.

Medical services at the Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) remained partially shut on Tuesday as resident doctors continued their strike for the second day against the rape-murder of a trainee doctor in Kolkata. The emergency services at the hospital, however, were on.

Bahujan Samaj Party chief Mayawati on Tuesday demanded strict punishment in cases of crime against women and urged for "sensitive arrangements" at every level. Her statement came in the wake of the recent the brutal rape and murder case of a woman doctor at a hospital in Kolkata, which has triggered nationwide protests. Calling the incident at the state-run RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in the West Bengal capital "very sad and shameful", Mayawati took to X to voice her concerns in the matter.

"Why is only the medical fraternity protesting against this incident, as humans everyone is hurt. It is a serious issue if something like this happens to a doctor inside the medical campus," he said.

Stating that healthcare services have been affected due to the ongoing ceasework by junior doctors over the last few days, the West Bengal government on Tuesday appealed to them to resume work and restore normalcy for the welfare of the common people. Health Secretary N S Nigam reiterated that the state government is committed to a transparent investigation and strict punishment for the culprits.

The Calcutta High Court on Tuesday heard multiple pleas filed in the murder and rape case of a postgraduate trainee doctor in state-run RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata. The division bench of the chief justice heard the arguments from both sides. Meanwhile, the court slammed the state government over the fresh appointment of the former principal of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital to another institute. The court said that he resigned from the post after taking moral responsibility for the incident so how could he get an appointment to another hospital?

A delegation from the Indian Medical Association (IMA), led by IMA President Arvi Ashokan, has arrived at the Health Ministry. The group is scheduled to meet with Health Minister J.P. Nadda to discuss pressing issues. The delegation consists of four doctors representing the IMA.

In connection with the alleged rape and murder of a postgraduate trainee at Kolkata's RG Kar Hospital, approximately 25 individuals were summoned for questioning at the Kolkata Police headquarters on Tuesday. This includes junior doctors, interns, and staff who were on duty with the victim. 

Among those questioned were the Head of the Department of Chest Medicine and a security guard from the hospital. Notably, four doctors who reportedly dined with the victim on the night of the incident were also among those called in. The investigation continues as authorities seek to gather more information about the case.

A delegation from the Indian Medical Association (IMA) is scheduled to meet with Health Minister JP Nadda at 2:30 PM today. The meeting will take place at the Ministry of Health.

In response to the tragic rape and murder incident at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, NCP (SCP) MP Supriya Sule expressed her deep concern and condemnation, urging for swift justice. Speaking on the matter, Sule stated,  " A lot of such incidents happen across the country and we condemn all of them...we believe that Mamata Banerjee will take action quickly and the family must get justice through fast track court. We couldn't save our daughter from this incident but such incidents must not happen again..."

The Calcutta High Court's Chief Justice division bench raised serious concerns today over the reassignment of Prof. (Dr.) Sandip Ghosh, the former Principal of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, following the recent rape-murder incident. Dr. Ghosh, who had resigned from his post at RG Kar, citing moral responsibility, was controversially appointed as the Principal of another government college shortly after.

During the hearing, the Chief Justice questioned the state's decision, asking, "How can the principal who resigned under moral pressure be appointed to another government institution?" The court directed Dr. Ghosh to submit a leave application by 3 PM today or face a court order to vacate the position.

The bench also criticized the state counsel, inquiring, "Why are you protecting him? Record his statement. Let him tell whatever he knows." The court emphasized that while Dr. Ghosh could hold an administrative role, he should have been the first to be questioned regarding the incident.

The Chief Justice division bench further directed that the case diary be submitted before the court by 1 PM today for further examination.

A team from the National Commission for Women (NCW) will visit the state-run RG Kar Medical Hospital and Kolkata amid the rising heat over the brutal rape and killing of postgraduate trainee doctor in the hospital premises.

The police investigation has intensified, with officers questioning several doctors and individuals connected to the case. The authorities have also summoned an assistant professor who informed the victim's parents about her death. The situation remains tense as protests continue and doctors demand swift justice.

Support for the striking doctors has come from various medical associations, including the Federation of Resident Doctors' Association of India (FORDA), which called for a nationwide halt of elective services. The West Bengal Doctors Forum also appealed to Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for an impartial inquiry and increased security for healthcare workers.

Amid the protests, the hospital's principal, Sandip Ghosh, resigned, sparking further controversy as he was reassigned as principal of Calcutta National Medical College. The appointment of Dr. Suhrita Paul as the new principal of RG Kar Medical College has also been met with criticism due to her past controversies.
