Gandhinagar: Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi today raised the issue of Indian diplomat Devyani Khobragade during his meeting with US ambassador Nancy Powell here.
Modi expressed concern over the stripsearch and handcuffing of Khobragade and hoped that a permanent solution would be found soon. Powell assured him that the US government was fully committed to resolving this issue at the earliest.
Modi told Powell that for strengthening Indo-US ‘Strategic partnership' and realize its full potential, it is important that such irritants should not be allowed to happen.
Modi then raised the issue of selective US approach towards terrorist groups. He said there should be single global yardstick on terrorism, as well as the need to isolate terrorist groups irrespective of their base or victims.
Modi said, the perpetrators of the 26/11 Mumbai attack hiding in Pakistan must be quickly brought to justice.
