New Delhi : Minal Modi ,wife of former IPL chairman Lalit Modi, is the main character behind Sushma Swaraj–Lalit Modi controversy.
Sushma Swaraj, External Affairs Minister of India, has been accused of helping Lalit Modi in getting visa for Portugal where her wife Minal was to undergo surgery for her the treatment of her liver cancer.
Lalit Modi, at that time was wanted in India as he was facing charges of FEMA violations amounting to 425 crore in IPL TV rights deal by Lalit Modi in 2009. He moved to London in 2010.
Minal's first husband was a high-flying professional Jack Sagrani, who used to travel from Nigeria to London and later worked in Saudi Arabia for Inlaks, which was owned by Indoo and Lakshmi Shivdasani.
While Minal was pregnant, Sagrani was caught in a scam and jailed in Saudi Arabia for several months. Also, he was unable to visit his wife even when she delivered their daughter Karima in London.
