TRS president K Chandrasekhar Rao said there will be a "terrible war" for achieving separate Telangana after the Sri Krishna committee submitted its report to the Centre towards the end of this year.
"In the current spell of agitation, for the first time, we have made the Centre come down for the sake of Telangana. We have made the movement so strong that the Centre had to announce that it will give Telangana. If we give one hard push again, Telangana will come. There will be a terrible war after December 31. We should be prepared for it," he said, addressing a gathering at the party office in Hyderabad.
The party is observing strategic silence after the Centre had appointed the Sri Krishna committee on the Telangana issue following an intense agitation, he said.
Hitting out at Congress MP Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy for his decision to undertake a tour to Warangal district in Telangana, he said the visit is an attack on the region as Telangana protagonists see it as an attempt to dilute the separate statehood demand.
"A young man committed suicide in protest against Jagan's yatra. He is opposed to separate Telangana. All Telangana protagonists see it as an attempt to dilute the Telangana sentiment. Even Congress MPs from Telangana have opposed it. Then why this attack on Telangana," he asked.
Jagan has decided to undertake the 'yatra' to console the families of those who committed suicide following the death of his father Y S Rajasekhara Reddy. He announced that it is purely a personal visit without any political element.
