Islamabad: Pakistan today said the resolution of the Kashmir issue was imperative for durable peace and prosperity in South Asia.
Minister for Information and Broadcasting Pervaiz Rashid, while addressing a function here marking “Kashmir Solidarity Day”, said the resolution of the Kashmir issue will bring prosperity in the region and its people will be rid of illiteracy and poverty.
He said Pakistan will continue to extend moral, political and diplomatic support to Kashmiris in the “struggle for their right to self determination.”
The Information Minister said India should fulfil international obligations if it wants to become a permanent member of the UN Security Council.
Addressing the function, JUI-F leader and Chairman of Kashmir Committee of the Parliament Maulana Fazlur Rehman said the Kashmir issue should be resolved according to the wishes of the Kashmiris in line with the UN Security Council resolutions.
He said that international community should play its role to help resolve the Kashmir issue.
