Karnataka: 10 charred to death as bus catches fire in Kalaburagi

The bus with 29 passengers on board was going towards Hyderabad from Goa when the incident happened.

At least ten people were charred to death after a bus in which they were travelling caught fire near Kamalapura town in Bellary district of Karnataka on Friday.

According to police, the bus burst into flames after it met with an accident with a tempo trax. The bus with 29 passengers on board was going to Hyderabad from Goa.

Police said that some passengers got down immediately from the bus. But a few couldn't and suffered serious burn injuries. The bus was completely gutted down. The driver of the tempo trax is also sustained severe injuries.

The injured have been shifted to various hospitals in Kalaburagi and are undergoing treatment.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai has expressed grief over the loss of lives in the mishap.

"I am saddened to learn that passengers on a bus were burnt alive and many were injured. I pray that the soul of the deceased can find peace and that the wounded heal quickly," he tweeted.
