New Delhi: Nobel laureate Kailash Satyarthi will visit Taiwan Jan 14-18, a statement said on Thursday.
Satyarthi, who founded Bachpan Bachao Andolan (save childhood movement), and his wife, will visit Taiwan on the invitation of its government, the Taipei Economic and Cultural Centre in India said in the statement.
"During his visit, Satyarthi will meet President Ma Ying-jeou and deliver a speech at the Chang Yung-fa Foundation," it said.
It said Satyarthi has also been invited as a guest of honour by the National Tsing Hua University to inspire "his young admirers".
While lauding Satyarthi's efforts towards ending child slavery, it said that in the last five years Taiwan's Waker Welfare Action Association and the Eden Social Welfare Foundation have been closely working with the Bachpan Bachao Andolan.
"Every year they send over 100 volunteers from Taiwan to India to work with Bachpan Bachao Andolan. These volunteers take active participation in some of the activities and have been very closely working with Satyarthi," the statement said.
