New Delhi, Jun 28: Bimal Julka, an IAS officer of 1979 batch of Madhya Pradesh cadre, is all set to be the next Information and Broadcasting secretary succeeding Uday Kumar Varma who retires this month.
Julka is at present serving in the Ministry of External Affairs as Special Secretary and Financial Advisor. Official sources said an announcement regarding the appointment of Julka was expected to be made soon.
He had worked earlier in various other ministries like Civil Aviation, Defence, Finance and Human Resource Development apart from holding positions in Madhya Pradesh Government.
An important task that awaits the new Secretary is I&B ministry's drive towards digitisation of cable sector which has reached the Phase III. The ministry intends to completely digitise the cable sector in the country by the end of next year.
