Ranchi, July 19: Jharkhand Speaker C P Singh will resign today.
“I will go to the Assembly at 3:00 PM and handover my resignation letter,” Singh said here. As the state Assembly does not have a deputy speaker, the Speaker will have to give his resignation letter to the Assembly Secretariat.
The Speaker had conducted the proceedings in the House yesterday when the Hemant Soren-led government took the confidence vote and won.
In his address to the House yesterday Singh had hinted at his resignation. Singh was elected on a BJP ticket and the party is now in the opposition.
