Ranchi: Jharkhand Police have foiled a major plan of Naxals to disrupt upcoming assembly elections in the state.
Police have recovered 1745 detonators, 145 pressure cookers, 123 tiffins and other materials for making bombs from Latehar district of the state. These materials were supposed to be used for making landmines. Police took these materials to a nearby forest and destroyed them.
SP Dr. Michael Raj S said that Naxals were planning to use these explosives against Police during elections and that the timely action by Police and CRPF foiled their designs. He also said that the Police is running operations against Maoists continuously.
In another incident, an explosive laden Bolero was seized from Jaynagar area of Kodarma. The vehicle bearing JH-10AG-9206 number-plate was carrying the name-plate of Dhanbad district minister of Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP). The vehicle was carrying around 3000 power gel besides other explosives in large numbers.
The Bolero was seized by a Police team led by Trainee DSP. The driver Nilesh Prasad Barnwal has been arrested.
