New Delhi: In yet another high-profile robbery, two bike-borne men robbed a jeweller of Rs. 1 crore worth jewellery at Rajghat in central Delhi, police said.
The incident took place when 44-year-old Shubham, who has a jewellery shop in Chandni Chowk area, and his driver were going to Karol Bagh in his car yesterday evening.
When they reached near Rajghat, two bike-borne youth signalled them to stop saying their car's tyre had deflated.
When Shubham and his driver came out to check, the pillion rider picked a bag containing around 4 kg gold jewellery from the car, and the duo fled, a police officer said.
Shubham immediately informed the police who flashed message on the wireless. Later, a case was registered at I P Estate Police station and investigations are on, the officer said.
In another incident, a jeweller was robbed of some jewellery at knife point in his shop in East Delhi's Gandhi Nagar area last evening. When locals tried to chase and nab the robber, he reportedly fired in the air to scare them. A case in this regard was registered at the Gandhi Nagar police station.
On Thursday, a 55-year-old Mumbai-based diamond merchant and his associate were robbed of jewellery worth more than Rs. 1 crore by two armed bike-borne miscreants on Desh Bandhu Gupta road while a 38-year-old sales executive was robbed off Rs. 29 lakh by three armed bike-borne miscreants in the Kalyanpuri area of east Delhi on the same day.
