New Delhi, Sept 9 : Actress-turned-MP Jaya Prada on Thursday warned that many people would be in trouble if Amar Singh, presently in Tihar jail, opened his mouth, reports Times of India.
Jaya Prada in an interview to Times of India slammed "beneficiaries" who turned their back on Amar Singh in his time of crisis.
She said, too many people benefitted from Amar Singh's efforts to save the Manmohan Singh government, but all of them have deserted him.
"I believe in judiciary but the common man is asking why is he in jail? He is not the beneficiary (of trust vote), there are others," she said.
Jaya Prada said Amar Singh had kept his silence despite being targeted by government and opposition.
"If he opens his mouth, there will be trouble (for many) but he is very calm... he keeps his word, that is his character," she added.
Jaya Prada said : "He (Amar Singh) supported Amitabh Bachchan when he was in crisis but Bachchan is not standing by him. Mulayam's position was because of Singh -- he brought about the downfall of Mayawati government and made him CM... he did not take any position. So did Congress (which benefited during the no-confidence motion)."
Jaya Prada added actor Raj Babbar and Samajwadi Party leader Azam Khan to the list of "ungrateful".
She also dismissed Mulayam Singh's statement of support for Amar Singh as a "ploy to create confusion" because of Singh's successful rally in SP stronghold Etawah.
Jaya Prada said the Thakur leader was innocent because the parliamentary committee, which was above all, had given him a clean chit.
"He is being targeted. Where is the source of money? Delhi Police has no evidence against him," she said, adding, "It is politically motivated to sabotage his image."
Jaya Prada said the present crisis was a fleeting phase. "It is human nature. People rush to power centres... we will bounce back," she said.
Jaya Prada said Amar Singh was not taking his meals in Tihar Jail and was sometimes vomiting , with looming fear of infection owing to his kidney ailment.
"He is not comfortable with the washroom (toilet) in jail, it is not hygienic... it is not safe for him in jail because of health problems," she said after meeting Amar Singh on Thursday.
Jaya Prada known as 'Rampur Ki Kali' for defeating Congress leader Noor Bano was successfully fielded for Lok Sabha from Rampur in the teeth of opposition from local Samajwadi heavyweighht Azam Khan. while Jaya Bachchan deserted Amar Singh, it was Jaya Prada who stayed loyal to her political mentor after his expulsion from SP.
She said it was a small service to the man who rescued her when she desperately pleaded for help in the 2009 polls.
