Rashtriya Janata Dal leader Tejashwi Yadav targeted the central government and the BJP for carrying out an anti-encroachment campaign in the violence-hit Jahangirpuri area of Delhi.
Tejashwi Yadav took a swipe at the govenment citing the alleged settlement of two villages on the border by China. The BJP-ruled North Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC) began a two-day anti-encroachment drive in Jahangirpuri on Wednesday, however, the proceedings were halted after the Supreme Court ordered to maintain status quo.
'Forget bulldozer, they didn't even have the courage to say two words'
In a tweet on Wednesday, the RJD leader said: "There are two Chinese villages settled inside our borders but forget bulldozer, not even two words are said about it. Will the bulldozers run only after looking at caste, religion or will they also worry about the unity, integrity and constitution of the nation? If there is illegal construction then what was the government/administration doing for so many years?"
Supreme Court bans anti-encroachment drive
The Supreme Court stayed the anti-encroachment drive in Jahangirpuri on Wednesday. The court also approved of hearing a petition, challenging the action of the municipal bodies allegedly targeted against the accused of the riots.
A bench headed by Chief Justice NV Ramana directed that status quo be maintained in the present situation. It said the petition would be listed before an appropriate bench.
