Jammu:Jammu and Kashmir government yesterday said there is need for proper fencing of the areas under mines in the forward villages along the Line of Control (LoC) so that people can take adequate precautions.

"There is need for proper fencing of the areas under mines in the forward villages along the Line of Control (LoC)," Minister for Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution and Tribal Affairs Choudhary Zulfkar Ali said.

The minister urged the concerned (Army) to ensure proper demining and keeping the people informed so that they can take adequate precautions.

Expressing profound grief and shock over the death of three brick-kiln labourers in an accidental mine blast at Sariya in Janghar sector of Nowshehra in Rajouri, the minister directed district administration to immediately process the compensation cases.

"Though no amount of money will compensate the loss of precious lives yet the families in distress need immediate succour in this hour of grief," Zulfkar Ali said while conveying his condolences and expressing solidarity with the bereaved families.

He asked the administration to ensure better coordination with the agencies concerned to avert such mishaps in future.  He said such incidents have taken place earlier also and stressed that adequate corrective measures should be taken to avoid recurrence of such tragic incidents.

The minister asked the district administration to ensure specialised treatment to the injured and all assistance to the bereaved families. He wished the injured early recovery and prayed for eternal peace to those who died in the incident.
