New Delhi: Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) is soon to offer a Cash-on-delivery option for railway tickets bought online.
The initiative has been taken to target those customers of IRCTC who are reluctant to use their bank credit cards for train ticket booking or those who don't have net-enabled bank account or cards.
The move will also keep people away from the ticket counters and decongest the booking windows.
Travelers can book a ticket latest, five days before the commencement of their journey.
CoD service is only provided by an app – BookMyTrain.com and the website of a company Anduril technologies.
Initially, the scheme has only been launched on the pilot basis. The services of the same will be provided in more than 200 cities as of now.
Delivery charges will be similar to IRCTC I-tickets i.e. Rs 40 for delivery of sleeper class and Rs 60 for AC class ticket.
