International Yoga Day 2024: President Droupadi Murmu, PM Modi and others perform yoga

Olympian Dutee Chand, who participated in a Yoga event in Bhubaneshwar, said, "We should practice Yoga daily...Yoga is very important for a healthy body...Yoga helps a lot in reducing stress."

Dr. Imam Umer Ahmed Ilyasi, Chief Imam, All India Imam Organization performed Yoga at Ladakh Open Football Stadium, on International Yoga Day today.

Odisha CM Mohan Charan Majhi performed Yoga at Kalinga Stadium, on the occasion of International Day of Yoga.

MoS Civil Aviation Murlidhar Mohol, along with members of the staff of Airport Authority of India, CISF and various airlines, performed Yoga at the New Terminal building of Pune International Airport on International Yoga Day today.

International Yoga Day was celebrated with much fanfare across Karnataka on Friday. The main event took place on the grand steps of Vidhana Soudha where Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot along with Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar, Health Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao, Legislative Council Chairperson Basavaraj Horatti and senior government officials took part in the event.

The International Yoga Day was celebrated in Manipur on Friday with Governor Anusuiya Uikey and Chief Minister participating in yoga events. The governor along with officials practised yoga at the Raj Bhavan here. She urged people to practice yoga daily to maintain a healthy and balanced life. Uikey said, "As envisaged by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the importance of Yoga in our daily life, the day is being celebrated throughout the country and in the world today. " The CM also attended the International Yoga Day celebration at Khuman Lampak Indoor Stadium, Imphal.

Thousands of yoga enthusiasts from across the world rolled out their yoga mats as they joined day-long sessions of the ancient Indian practice to commemorate the 10th International Day of Yoga on Friday. Recognising its universal appeal, in December 2014, the UN proclaimed June 21 as the International Day of Yoga. The draft UN General Assembly resolution establishing the International Day of Yoga was proposed by India and endorsed by a record 175 member states. The Consulate General of India in New York along with the Times Square Alliance hosted special yoga sessions at Times Square.

President Droupadi Murmu participated in yoga session on the occasion of International Day of Yoga.

An Indian pariah dog, trained by NDRF, performed Yoga as 13th the battalion of NDRF celebrated International Yoga Day in Udhampur, Jammu and Kashmir.

President Droupadi Murmu on Friday greeted the entire global community, especially the citizens of India, on the occasion of International Day of Yoga and said that yoga is a way to physical, mental and spiritual well-being.

"Greetings to the entire global community, especially the fellow citizens of India on International Yoga Day! Yoga is India's unique gift to humanity. In view of rising lifestyle-related problems, Yoga has become far more important today. Yoga is a way to physical, mental and spiritual well-being. Let us resolve to adopt yoga as an integral part of our day-to-day living," the President posted on X.

On the occasion of International Day of Yoga, Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel said his government will establish 51 ‘Yoga Studios’ across the state to promote the ancient practice which “benefited people immensely” during COVID. The CM was at Nadabet in Banaskantha district near the India-Pakistan border to take part in the state-level event to mark the 10th International Day of Yoga.
