New Delhi: AAP is the new flavour of Delhi, not just in terms of politics but in beverages too. Looking to cash in on the popularity of the Aam Aadmi Party, a Delhi-based beverages manufacturer has launched “AAP Cola”, which the promoters say is a cold drink for the “aam aadmi”.

Launched in four flavours - cola, lemon, orange and surprise - a 400ml pet bottle will be available for Rs 15 across the city from Sunday.  The company is owned by Jitender Keswani, who said the cola is for the 'common man' who cannot afford to buy costly soft drinks of foreign companies.

Keswani and his family were present at the swearing-in ceremony of Arvind Kejriwal at the Ramlila Ground, where nearly 20,000 bottles of the AAP Cola were distributed free of cost.

Keswani is promoting his brand of cola for the “aam admi” with a slogan— “Drink and fight for your right”. The family started its business with a humble paan shop in Greater Kailash in the 1960s — Prince Paan, and then moved on to beverages. The company already has the 'Prince Cola' brand in the market which Keswani claims to be as popular as other foreign brands among the common people of the city.

"We started with the Prince Paan shop in GK then my father started another shop in RK Puram. Then as the business started getting big, we entered the beverages segment. Now we want to expand the business with innovations like this which will also benefit the aam aadmi," he said.

Shri Brahm Shakti Prince Beverages Pvt Ltd has its manufacturing facility in Noida with its registered office in Greater Kailash Part 1.

The company has also applied for a registration of the name 'AAP Cola' and is waiting for approval.

Critics allege that AAP, which in its manifesto promised freebies such as basic water supply free of cost and a cut in electricity tariffs by half, distributed 25,000 bottles of AAP Cola for free during Arvind Kejriwal's swearing-in ceremony at Ramlila Maidan in New Delhi on Saturday.
