New Delhi, Jun 6 : Kolkata-born Debarghya Das, a 20-year-old student studying in Cornell University, has hacked into the database of ICSE (Class X) and ISC (Class XII) school examination results, says a newspaper report.
Das, studying computer science, said, he ran a simple program that entered all roll numbers after defining a range to get access to the results.
"It's shocking they (ICSE board) haven't implemented a more secure system", Das told Times of India on phone from New York.
After the data were crunched, analysed and plotted in graphs, Das found an interesting incongruity in the marking system.
He found there were 33 specific scores between the pass mark of 35 and the topmost mark of 100, which were not given to any of the 1.5 lakh students who appeared for the ICSE exam.
Das says, not one student got the following marks: 36, 37, 39, 41, 43, 45, 47, 67, 68, 70, 71, 73, 75, 77, 79, 81, 82 in the case of ISC. Another set of 24 marks between 40 and 100 were found to be unattained.
Council of Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) chief Gerry Arathoon said: "I can't say anything until I have had a look at things myself."
