New Delhi, Feb 2: Parliament members from different parties voiced their concern over the human rights situation in Tibet and extended support to the cause of Tibet here Saturday.

Speaking at a function of Central Tibetan Administration, the elected government of Tibetans-in-exile, BJP MP Yashwant Sinha said he would invite Tibetan spiritual leader the Dalai Lama to address the parliament during the budget session next month.

He also called the self-immolation (by Tibetans) “the ultimate sacrifice an individual can make for one's cause”.

According to Central Tibetan Administration, 99 Tibetans immolated themselves in protest against China's policies. It called for freedom and return of the Dalai Lama to his homeland.

Lok Janshakti Party MP Ram Vilas Paswan also condemned the alleged atrocities committed by China in Tibet.

“I have written to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to make efforts to resolve the issue of Tibet,” he said.

Samajwadi Party MP Alok Tiwari said his party had a long-standing relationship with the Tibetan issue.

Also present were BJP MPs Ravi Shankar Prasad and Anurag Thakur.
