Jammu: Amid reports of ceasefire violations during the past 24 hours, Indian and Pakistani troops yesterday exchanged sweets at two places on the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch district on the occasion of Pakistan's Independence Day.
“Sweets were exchanged at Chakan-da-Bagh and Hot-spring Mendhar crossing points along the LoC in Poonch district by the troops of both sides on the occasion of Pakistan's Independence Day,” a Defence spokesman said here last night.
The exchange of sweets is expected to go a long way in promoting harmony and bonhomie along the Line of Control, he said.
The exchange of sweets and greetings between the two sides took places amid bangs of mortar bombs and rattle of small and automatic weapons along the LoC in Poonch district during the past 24 hours.
There had been three ceasefire violations along the LoC in Hamirpur, Balakote and Hamirpur sub-sectors of Poonch district since 2100 hours yesterday, and eight ceasefire violations in the past six days.
