India ashamed: why women are not safe

New Delhi: On December 16, 2012 a young paramedic student was gang raped and brutally assaulted by six men in a moving private bus and thrown out of it after 30 minutes of torture along with her male friend. The gangrape victim suffered massive internal injuries and on December 29, she succumbs to massive internal injuries at a Singapore hospital after battling death for over 12 days. The gangrape brought out huge protests in the heart of the capital as people vociferously demanded safety of women. As a result , new anti rape bill was proposed by the government, and passed in Parliament after much debat, but all these efforts seem to be in vain as now a five year old Delhi girl has been similarly assaulted in a brutish manner. She is a kid, not yet aware of the life, she is just five years old and has come across such an inhuman act. The girl was missing since April 14, and a case of missing person was registered by local police, which converted it into abduction,. On Thursday evening, people heard cries from the ground floor of a building in the same neighbourhood, broke open the door, and found the girl tied, gagged and bleeding. She had been raped and assaulted brutally. Again nationwide outrage snowballed over this brutal sexual assault, but will it solve the issue of women safety in Delhi or in India?India, a predominantly Hindu nation, prays goddesses like Sita and Parvati but now it seems that Indian women need the goddess Kali to carry on the fight against enemies of humanity.We are guided by weak laws, and this is the reason why such acts are happening time and over again. Moreover, institutions in India do not offer enough support for women who want to report on crimes.When is this horror going to end, will there be time, when our sisters, daughters will feel safe in their own country?No one has an answer to these questions because of our weak judiciary system. Do we still have the right to say we are proud Indians, when we are not even able to save the dignity and prosperity of our sisters and mothers. We should be ashamed of ourselves, need to look for a permanent solution to such devils ,who perform these brutal acts so that we can stand with pride and again call us our nation as Bharat Mata.
