'Every world leader kept asking me about Digital India during G20 Summit in Bali': PM Modi at Red Fort

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while addressing the nation on the 77th Independence Day from the ramparts of the Red Fort, recalled his visit to G20 Summit in Bali, and expressed pleasure when the world leaders asked him about the Digital India campaign. 

Notably, Digital India is a flagship programme of the Government of India with a vision to transform India into a digitally empowered society and knowledge economy. "When I visited the Bali for G20 Summit last, every world leader kept asking me about the Digital India initiative. I told them the campaign is not limited to metro cities, but it helps every citizen of the country," said PM Modi from Red Fort.

"Our initiative is not limited to Chennai, Delhi or Mumbai...even tier-II cities are now equipped with Digital equipment," he said.

While recalling the era of COVID-19, the Prime Minister said India has had assisted several countries even at a time it was facing economic turbulence. He expressed pleasure that the 140 crore population had also supported his government's decisions and added this made the country pave the path of economic development.

"India has emerged as 'vishva mitra' (friend of world); country laying strong foundation of 'vishva mangal' (global welfare)," he noted.

India becomes voice of global south: PM

Further, while elaborating India's staunch and robust economic dynamics, PM Modi said that the whole world was facing issues due to covid restrictions but added New Delhi achieved the highest export record. He asserted that India has become the voice of the global south in terms of economy and supply chain. Notably, the Global South refers to countries often characterized as developing, less developed, or underdeveloped, primarily located in Africa, Asia, and Latin America.
