Clean India Mission was launched on 2 October 2014 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Rajghat in New Delhi. PM Modi himself had cleaned the road. It has become India's biggest ever hygiene drive in which 3 million government employees besides students from schools and colleges participated.
PM Modi first nominated nine famous personalities for the campaign, and they took up the challenge and nominated nine more people and so on.
Till now famous personalities from different arena have participated in Clean India Mission.
