Lucknow: With inquiry pending against her, suspended IAS officer Durga Sakhti Nagpal today met Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav and gave clarification over the issue which led to her suspension.
Nagpal and her husband Abhishek Singh, also an IAS officer, met the chief minister this afternoon and gave clarification over the issue, a senior officer told PTI. “It is now expected that her suspension might be revoked in a couple of days,” the officer said.
Nagpal was suspended on July 27 ostensibly for taking on the powerful sand mining mafia as SDM of Gautambudh Nagar.
Although the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister said that she was suspended for arbitrarily ordering the demolition of a wall of an under-construction mosque in Kadalpur village. “Her action threatened to destroy communal peace,” the Chief Minister had said.
The Chief Minister had on August 29 ordered a fresh probe and appointed Principal Secretary (home) RM Srivastava as the inquiry officer in the case and called for a report within the next 15 days.
She was later served a chargesheet running into 10 pages, on a report of Commissioner (Meerut Division) alleging that the IAS officer had not adhered to the rules while demolishing a mosque wall to which she had later submitted her reply.
The suspension had triggered a public outcry. Opposition parties also targeted the UP government over the issue.
