Kolkata, Jul 10: Senior BJP leader LK Advani today said he had not seen a central government functioning like the way it was at present, hinting at the corruption scandals involving the government.
“I have seen all governments starting from Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru and I have not seen any government running in this manner,” Advani, who was in the city to observe the 110th birth anniversary of Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee, founder of Jan Sangh, told reporters.
Asked to comment on the absence of a cabinet minister in the important portfolio of Railways, Advani said, “It is not a question of Railways only, but every common man is asking if this government will drag along in this fashion till 2014.”
Referring to West Bengal, Advani said during the election campaign he had predicted that change was inevitable and the change had indeed come.
Advani said during a visit to the residence of Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee in south Kolkata that the death of the leader had still remained a mystery and that no ‘inquiry' had been conducted into his demise.
“Today is a very important day for me. I met Dr Mukherjee last in April-May, 1953 and shortly after that the great leader decided to undertake his journey to Kashmir where he was arrested. He died under mysterious circumstances and there was no enquiry conducted into his death,” Advani said. PTI
