Haridwar: A woman allegedly killed her husband today on the suspicion that he was having an extra-marital affair, police said.
In order to make it appear like a case of loot, the woman, identified as Richpal, took out the chain and rings from the victim's body and lodged a complaint of loot and murder at the local police station, they said.
Within few hours, police unravelled the mystery when they recovered the jewellery from the house of Richpal's sister-in-law Soni, following which they were arrested, police said.
During interrogation, the accused woman confessed to having murdered her husband Surendra Pal Singh Virk, former President of the Haridwar Bar Association. She took the help of her sister-in-law to kill Virk, they said.
The duo allegedly used a cricket bat and stamp to hit him, police said.
The accused woman told police that her husband was having an extra-marital affair and she feared that he would leave her and their children in order to settle with another woman.
