New Delhi: If the history wing of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), Itihas Sankalan Yojana, is to be believed then the holy book Bhagavad Gita was composed 5,153 years ago which is in contradiction to the belief of Jiyo Gita Parivar and other Hindu religious groups which says Gita was composed 5,151 years ago.
It should be recalled that Jiyo Gita Parivar and other Hindu religious groups recently organised a public function to mark 5,151 years of the Bhagavad Gita at the Red Fort in New Delhi where External Affairs Minister had said that Gita should be declared a ‘national scripture'.
The Itihas Sankalan Yojana claims that its calculation is based on the wheel of time.
According to Bal Mukund, national organising secretary of the Itihas Sankalan Yojana, Jiyo Gita Parivar is a cultural body and working for the welfare of the society and therefore it would not create any controversy over the giant celebration to mark the holy book's conception.
Mukund, however, very quickly added that if the religious body consults them, the outfit would tell them that the calculations based on historical facts show the Gita to be 5,153 years old.
Recently, the Jiyo Gita Parivar and other Hindu religious groups had a public meeting to mark 5,151 years of the Bhagavad Gita at the Red Fort in New Delhi. They event was attended by External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj, Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) leader Ashok Singhal, yoga guru Ramdev, Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar and many others.
