Kohima, Mar 27: Nagaland today celebrated the festival of colours with religious fervour and gaiety.
In the state capital, the new Governor, Dr Ashwani Kumar greeted the citizens of the state extended good wishes.
"May this festival be celebrated with joyous enthusiasm and reassert the tradition of reinforcing unity amidst diversity with happiness and gaiety," he said.
Dr Kumar along with his spouse joined officials and staff of the Raj Bhavan in celebrating Holi.
The Nepali community dominating Chandmari colony in the state capital led by Vivela Club also visited Raj Bhavan and greeted the Governor on the occasion.
In the fast growing commercial hub of the state Dimapur too Hindus were seen coming out on the streets to celebrate the occasion.
People irrespective of caste and creed are exchanging sweets and rubbing holi on one another's faces while the business establishments owned by the Hindu community also remained closed.
Nagaland is a Christian dominated state, but also a home to thousands of Hindus from other parts of the country employed in various government and private sectors, specially in Kohima and Dimapur.
