New Delhi: After Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) slammed Hindu Mahasabha for commemorating death anniversary of Nathuram Godse as 'Balidan Diwas' the extreme right wing outfit has lashed out at Sangh, calling it the ‘biggest traitor'.
"The RSS is the biggest traitor that has betrayed not only the country but also the Hindus. Few are aware of the fact that the Hindu Mahasabha (HM) was the parent body of RSS. But after Mahatma Gandhi's assassination in 1948, RSS leaders severed all ties with the Hindu Mahasabha and joined hands with Nehru and tried to distance themselves from Gandhi's killing. These are the real traitors who abandoned the HM when it was being persecuted for killing Gandhi," Ashok Sharma, national vice-president of Akhil Bhartiya Hindu Mahasabha (ABHM) told Times of India.
While accusing Sangh of playing with sentiments of Hindus to grab power, Sharma said, “The RSS and its offshoot BJP have only used the anti-Muslim stance to garner votes. It hijacked issues started by the Hindu Mahasabha.”
The 79 year old leader said it was ironic that today the Hindu Mahasabha is considered part of the saffron brigade. "Let me tell you, we have nothing to do with the BJP or any other offshoots of RSS.
Akhil Bahratiya Hindu Mahasabha commemorated the death anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi's assassin Nathuram Godse as 'Balidan Diwas' on Sunday.
Godse's death anniversary was commemorated in 86 districts across the country, according to the organisers of the event, who distributed copies of 'Nathuram Godse, Ek Parichay' (An Introduction).
The book 'Nathuram Godse, Ek Parichay' looks at the life and principles of the man who was hanged on November 15, 1949, in Ambala following his conviction for killing Gandhi.
