New Delhi: Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh today offered the Centre's complete support to Gujarat and Uttarakhand to cope with the situations arising out of incessant rainfall.
Singh spoke to Gujarat Chief Minister Anandiben Patel and Uttarakhand CM Harish Rawat to enquire about the situation in their state, official sources said.
The Home Minister said that central agencies including National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) are keeping an eye on the situation.
The central government is committed to provide all support to both the states, the sources said.
Earlier in the day, Cabinet Secretary P K Sinha has also held a meeting with NDRF chief O P Singh and senior Home Ministry officials on the situation in Gujarat and Uttarakhand, they said.
Both Gujarat and Uttarakhand are witnessing very heavy rainfall which has resulted in flood-like situation in some parts of the states besides caused huge loss to life and property.
As many as 70 people have been reported dead in Gujarat and 1,000 people have been shifted to safer places in Uttrakhand, the sources said.
