Chandigarh: Moderate to heavy rain lashed many areas of Haryana and Punjab early on Tuesday, leading to a dip in the temperature in the region.
Chandigarh residents woke up to a cool morning as heavy rains lashed the city overnight (13.3 mm).
In Haryana, Ambala received 17.1 mm rains, Hisar 22.4 mm, Bhiwani 22.4 mm, Karnal 11.6 mm, Narnaul 10 mm and Panchkula 15 mm.
In Punjab, Pathankot received 43 mm rains, Amritsar 11.3 mm, Ludhiana 15.8 mm, Patiala 18.4 mm, Madhopur 43.4 mm, Shahpur Kandi belt 55.2 mm, Nangal Dam 12.8 mm and Mohali 14 mm.
Maximum temperatures in the region have witnessed a sharp fall after the rains, a MeT official said, adding western disturbances have led to the current change in weather.
