Allahabad: Allahabad High Court today reserved its judgement on a petition filed by seer Sobhan Sarkar seeking directions to Uttar Pradesh government to permit him to carry out excavations in Fatehpur district where he claims there were huge reserves of gold buried in the ground.

The judgement was reserved by Justice Ashok Bhushan and Justice Vipin Sinha.

Sarkar has claimed in his petition that there were 2,500 tonnes of gold buried in the ground at Adampur village in Fatehpur district.

The seer has sought the court's direction to the state government and the district administration to allow him to carry out the excavation for which, he has claimed, a preliminary survey has been carried out by experts at the Indian School of Mines, Dhanbad and the IIT Kanpur.

Sarkar has also stated that he was willing to bear the expenses involved in the excavation.  Recently, the Archaeological Survey of India had carried out a fortnight-long excavation at Daundiya Kheda village in Unnao upon similar claims made by Sarkar.

The seer had claimed that the gold could not be found as he had not been “invited” to the site during the excavation.
