Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Saturday took over the investigation of the alleged gangrape case of a 19-year-old girl in Uttar Pradesh's Hathras. The central government has issued a notification for the CBI to take over the probe into the alleged gang-rape and death.
The notification has been marked to a suitable branch of the premier agency, and probe teams will be dispatched to the crime scene along with forensic experts immediately after the registration of an FIR.
The Yogi Adityanath government had, earlier, recommended a CBI probe into the Hathras case. A letter was also sent in this regard to the central government.
The Uttar Pradesh chief minister slammed politicisation of the alleged gangrape and murder case. Smelling conspiracies in the case, Adityanath called for recognising those who are doing politics on the death of the 19-year-old victim.
The woman died on September 29 at Delhi's Safdarjung Hospital after she was allegedly raped at her village by four upper-caste men.
