Belur (WB), Jul 10: A number of poetries, essays and letters by 19th century philosopher-monk Swami Vivekananda have now been compiled in a book form as a facsimile copy of his original handwriting.
Released here at the headquarters of the Ramakrishna Math, the book ‘A bouquet of Vivekananda's writings' contains a number of hand-written poetries, essays and even letters written by Vivekananda in Bengali and English. Swami Prabhananda, Vice-President of the Math, said the compilation brings people more close to Vivekananda as this is for the first time that so many of his works are being brought out in a facsimile edition.
Published by Advaita Ashrama, the 310 page book is being sold at a subsidised price of Rs 500.
During the day, a special section devoted to Vivekananda's travel was also unveiled at the museum inside Belurmath.
With a theme of ‘Arise, Awake', the slideshow exhibits how the spiritual leader walked on foot throughout India to awaken people.
