New Delhi: The education department of Haryana has made mandatory for schools to brief students about the symptoms of H1N1 virus which causes Swine flu.
The health instructors and science teachers will brief students during morning assemblies.
The decision was taken after a joint meeting of the health and education department to raise the awareness of students about the deadly H1N1 virus and detect the virus on time in order to combat it effectively.
Confirming the decision, district education officer of Gurgaon Manoj Kaushik told Mail Today that it has become mandatory for all private and government schools to apprise students of the symptoms of swine flu during the morning assemblies.
The officer also added that any student with symptoms of the virus would be immediately sent on leave for seven days.

The deadly disease has claimed eight lives in Haryana so far with maximum casualties reported in Gurgaon, where three persons have died so far.
Swine flu has claimed 191 lives in the country in January alone with Telangana reporting the highest number of cases of people afflicted with the H1N1 virus followed by Delhi, as per government reports. The total number of cases of swine flu coming to light across India in January stood at 2,038.
While Delhi saw 488 persons coming down with the disease with five deaths reported from January 1 to February 1 of this year, Telangana recorded 629 cases with 34 deaths.
In Gujarat, 309 persons contracted swine flu with the virus claiming 38 lives, said a senior health ministry official.
