Lok Sabha Elections 2024: Gourav Vallabh, Congress spokesperson, on Thursday resigned from all party posts saying that he can neither raise anti-sanatana nor abuse country's wealth creators. Hours after resigning from the party, he joined the rival BJP.
Calling the party directionless, Gourav Vallabh wrote on X, "I am not able to feel comfortable with the way in which the Congress Party is moving ahead today. I can neither raise anti-Sanatan slogans nor abuse the wealth creators of the country... That's why I am resigning from all posts and primary membership of the Congress Party."
"I have written a detailed letter to Mallikarjun Kharge and expressed all my emotions. I was hurt by the silence of the Congress Party when some big leaders of the Alliance opposed Sanatana and the party's stand on Ram Mandir... In our country, the Congress party abuses the country's wealth creators day and night... I was clear about these things, and raised this matter at many places on the party platform as well...," Vallabh added.
Further, in his resignation letter, Vallabh said, "When I joined Congress, I believed that Congress is the oldest party in the country which respects youth and intellectual people and their ideas. But for some time, I felt that the party was not able to adjust with the youth having new ideas."
Vallabh claimed the Congress is completely cut off from the ground and is unable to understand the aspirations of a new India, due to which the party is neither coming to power nor is able to play the role of a strong opposition.
He also said that he was upset with the stance taken by the party of staying away from the Ram Mandir 'Pran Pratishtha' programme in Ayodhya.
Gourav Vallabh was Congress party's candidate in the Rajasthan Assembly election 2023 from Udaipur constituency. He contested against BJP's Tarachand Jain but lost the election by a margin of 32,000 votes.
