Kanpur, Apr 14 : A bunch of goons armed with countrymade weapons on Saturday thrashed NHAI (National Highway Authority of India) toll plaza staff near Akbarpur and took control of the plaza for more than half an hour, allowing all vehicles to cross the plaza free of charge.
The toll plaza manager Sadanand Chauhan said, nearly 10 to 12 goons came in a vehicle carrying pistols and began attacking the toll staff. Several employees were injured and police was called in.
Manish, a toll employee, put the number of goons at nearly 40 and said for nearly half an hour, they allowed all vehicles to pass through without paying any toll.
Additional SP, Kanpur Rural, Ram Kishen said, some of the licensed weapons have been recovered. He described it as a fight between two groups of employees.
Thirteen persons have been arrested under Sec 151 IPC.
