London, Sept 24 : IOC president Jacques Rogge says New Delhi's potential for hosting future Olympics should not be written off before giving embattled Indian organizers a chance to pull off the Commonwealth Games with a "last-ditch" effort.
Rogge tells The Associated Press in an interview that he hopes India can come through the way Greek organizers overcame delays and "doomsday scenarios" to stage the 2004 Athens Olympics.
The International Olympic Committee leader will attend the Oct. 3 opening of the Commonwealth Games, whose chaotic preparations have dented India's hopes of bidding for the 2020 Olympics.
But Rogge says "let's give them the chance to prove they can stage good games. It would be with a last-ditch effort. Let's hope they can fulfill that." AP
