New Delhi: Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has started recruitment for the selection of candidates for appointment as Apprentices in Mechanical Department of Indian Railways.
The Special Class Railway Apprentices (SCRA) Exam conducted by the UPSC every year is one of the toughest exams among the aspirants due to its dual nature of offering an esteemed graduation degree and a highly deserving job in railways.
The candidates on clearing the two stage entrance exam undergo a four-year rigorous training programme in Mechanical Engineering and on successful completion of the course get a BE degree in Mechanical Engineering from BITS, Mesra, Ranchi.
Indian Railway Institute of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering (IRIMEE) has a Memorandum of Understanding with BIT, Mesra, for awarding the degrees.
On successful completion of the four year degree programme, the candidates are posted directly as Indian Railway Services of Mechanical Engineers (IRSME) Officers in Indian Railways who have scope in rapidly scaling high in the ladder in their career to become senior administrators of Indian Railways.
