At least 76 people tested positive for the novel coronavirus on Monday in Uttar Pradesh's Gautam Buddh Nagar, taking the total number of infected cases in the district to 1,011, officials said. Gautam Buddh Nagar Surveillance Officer Sunil Dohare said three persons including a 70-year-old man -- a resident of Sector 76, have died on Monday. Besides, a 42-year-old man of Nithari village, and a 29-year-old man of Sector 57, have also died.
"However, the Health Department is yet to ascertain whether they died of coronavirus," Dohra said.
Meanwhile, Alok Singh, Police Commissioner of Gautam Budh Nagar, visited a hospital to meet the Corona-infected police personnel undergoing treatment there.
He urged the doctors to provide the best possible treatment to the policemen. He also asked the infected police personnel to do Yoga-Pranayam regularly.
Health camps have been set up at 12 places in Gautam Buddh Nagar including Mamura, Nithari, Sarfabad, Harola, Sector 8, Sector 9, and Sector 10. A total of 723 people have been screened at these places out of which 15 showed signs of fever. They have been admitted to hospitals.
A total of 1,011 infected cases have been reported in the district out of which 489 infected patients are under treatment. So far, 510 patients have returned to their homes after recovering.
