Gang rape: Home Secy, Delhi Police chief were laughing at press conference, it was shameful, says Justice J S Verma
New Delhi, Jan 26: Justice J. S. Verma, who headed the committee that has recommended "full life" term to serious sex offenders, said today that it was shameful to see the Home Secretary and Delhi
The former judge said, castration of rapists was ruled out by his committee because it was against international human rights. "Similarly the world over, capital punishment is being abolished because it is irreversible".
Justice Verma said: "there is a provision in Indian Penal Code which says that if a woman is being raped and if she acts in self defence and the rapist dies, then the woman will not be charged under any criminal act."
